Calculating gold stolen in attacks

What's the formula? Or what are the factors at least? Sometimes I get like 90%+ of someone's gold, and other times about 50%, why?

Your TFF (Total Fighting Force) is the factor.

For this Era 14v2:

Downslaying (Attacking someone with lower TFF): you will get between 40%-60%.

Upslaying (Attacking someone with higher TFF): you will get between 75%-100%.

Be cautious while attacking targets with slightly higher TFF, the stolen gold percentage is calculated after the battle e.g. if your target suffers a decent troops loss, the TFF might get lower than yours, so you will be as if you're downslaying.

Additional question: does the difference in TFF matter?

Like, if your TFF is much higher, will the gold gain be closer to 40%, and if your TFF is just slightly higher, will it be closer to 60%? Or is it full random in that range, regardless of the relative TFF?

No it's totally random, but as I mentioned earlier be careful when upslaying a slightly higher TFF than yours so that you won't end up with a disappointment.
