Weapon effectiveness formula for SA/DA

Post by xza3 »

How are the military effectiveness ratings calculated?

I bought 10 x Chariot, and saw an increase of 4,101,570 points in SA. I also bought 10 x Thunderclap, and saw an increase of 15,399,718 points in SA. But 4101570/600 is 6835.95, while 15399718/2250 is 6844.31911…

But shouldn't the actual SA per nominal SA ratio be the same for both weapons?

weapon strength cost ratio

ThunderClap 2,250 2,000,000 Gold . is 1.125

Chariot 600 450,000 Gold . is 1.333

it looks like chariots are a bit stronger per weapon by gold

Yeah, that's the weapon strength cost ratio, chariots are better in that regard. But the actual SA increase from buying 10 chariots was 4.1 mil, and from 10 thunderclaps it was 15.4 mil. What I found, and what I'm not understanding, is that why the multipliers resulting in those numbers aren't exactly same. For chariots it's 10*600*683.6 and for thunderclaps it's 10*2250*684.4. I realize ~684 comes from my siege and technology etc., but why isn't it the exact same number for both weapon types?

Is it a rounding error in an intermediate place somewhere, or what's going on?

not sure .. as long as they are all being held by same kind of soldier .. trained and not merc or untrained, weapon strength is only other thing.

here is my theory .. with 1000 troops you have x amount of strength per soldier .. you give 10 of them a weapon, then you have 990 soldier strength and 10 weapon strength .. you give 100 soldiers a weapon, you have 900 soldier strength and 100 weapon strength .. the more weapons your soldiers hold, they less soldier strength you have .. so, using thunderclaps you use less soldiers to hold them, leaving more soldier strength .. using chariots, you use up more soldier strength holding them ..

makes sense, but in this case I bought exactly 10 of each, so it shouldn't matter.

but I figure it's possible it's because I have enough attack specialists for all thunderclaps, rest have chariots, and the rest of the chariots go to attack mercs. so if there's a difference in effectiveness between attack soldiers and attack mercs that could explain it. if new thunderclaps go to attack specialists and new chariots go to attack mercs, that is.

yes, trained soldiers have different strengths than untrained which are different than mercs.

theirs no difference between a trained merc and a trained tff, they both multiply the base strength of the weapon by i think its three dont quote me im not sure on the exact multiplier, i never remember stuff like this. where as a base strength of an untrained is multiplied by 1 (very imprtant to now tis a multiple as thats what allows broken sticks to suppress sa). allotment allocates based on higher tier first, so its going to hold all the claps before chariots. trained troops hold first then trained mercs then untrained . multipliers in siege then tech then racial(again dont quote me on the order) are assigned after this

what explains my findings them? why are two different weapon classes seemingly multiplied with slightly different multipliers? my specs + mercs total is more than my total weapons, so no weapons should go to untrained soldiers
